ScreenPlay: The Rehearsal Edition Nominated for ENnie Award

Broken Ruler Games and Mystical Throne Entertainment are proud and humbled to announce ScreenPlay: The Rehearsal Edition has received a 2016 ENnie nomination for Best Free Game. Released back in October 2015, this free public beta test version of ScreenPlay not only exceeded our expectations on gaining a new audience for this storytelling RPG, it has now been recognized by this year’s ENnies judges as one of the best free games released in the past year.

ScreenPlay: The Rehearsal Edition is not only a complete self-contained story game where players take on the role of Writers crafting the first draft of an exciting, original story, it was also an experiment in playtesting. Functioning like a crowdfunding campaign, participants received “playtest points” for completing questionnaires with each draft based on whether they read the game, played it as a Writer, or organized one as a Director. In exchange, playtesters could unlock additional treatments (AKA playtest adventures), define their playtester ranking and reward and earn print copies of the finished product. The use of the Rehearsal Edition was not only fundamental in creating a stronger, more flexible game in the long run, it also garnered a fan base for ScreenPlay months before the full release in May 2016.

The work and feedback gained over the Rehearsal Edition’s run can now be found in the ScreenPlay core rulebook (on sale now – http://www.rpgnow.com/product/184301/ScreenPlay) but we’re pleased to say the Rehearsal Edition can be downloaded for free from https://brokenrulergames.net/screenplay/screenplay-the-rehearsal-edition/ for free until July 22nd for your voting consideration.
