General Update

Work has picked back up again and many projects are moving forward steadily! As a general FYI, the company that made the website template that I used and configured decided they no longer are supporting the work they do. Which is real nice when you pay for something and are told you get free upgrades for life… I guess “life” isn’t really that long. Unfortunately, that means a couple things in the webstore are clunky and although they work, they’re not optimal. I am aware of this and hope to find a new template soon.

Licensed Campaigns

Five Points, a campaign setting for Cakebread & Walton’s Dark Streets, is now out in full force! Not only is the PDF available abroad, the print-on-demand paperback and hardcover are both available over at DriveThruRPG and RPGNow! Woohoo! For those wondering what’s next… well… I’ve spoken to Peter Cakebread about this and at least one other Dark Streets setting may be developed in the future.

Ultimate Guides

Some changes are coming to the Ultimate Guides line. I’ve decided to “categorize” the historical books by era to make it easier to know what you’re looking for in a setting. For example, the aforementioned Ultimate Vikings Guide will not be called Ultimate Dark Ages Guide: Vikings. Going forward, and when current books are revised, you’ll know what books pertain to the era you’re looking for. For instance, if you want to grab all the Medieval books, they will be categorized as such. Books that focus on mechanics will not be categorized as their name is effectively a category.

With that in mind, development is cooking along for the Ultimate Guides series. We currently have Ultimate Age of Discovery Guide: Renaissance France in development and editing, Ultimate Psionics Guide is in development, Ultimate Medieval Guide: Feudal Japan is in development, Ultimate Dark Ages Guide: Vikings is in development, and I am officially announcing my intent to develop Ultimate Age of Discovery Guide: Portsmouth using the Portsmouth 1745 setting material and Ultimate Antebellum Guide: Five Points using the Five Points setting material. These will all be available for Savage Worlds and some of them may be developed for EGS and Legend or Renaissance.

Entropic Gaming System

Entropic Heroes: Fantasy is in layout. However, I’m taking the rest of the month off from layout to spread out my release schedule, so this will sit idle for another 1 1/2 weeks. No big deal though. It will be out soon and it will be awesome! As a follow-up to this book and as an integral part of EGS: Fantasy, there will be an Ultimate Fey Guide for EGS which adds new fantasy races and a setting for your EGS: Fantasy games.

Shadowed Earth

Beyond the Firelight: Goody Eleanor is available in PDF abroad and print-on-demand at DriveThruRPG and RPGNow. Both are Pay What You Want, although you have to cover the printing costs for the POD version. The book is a nice, compact size that can be easily transported for quick on-the-spot games while you’re waiting for other games or just as a way to tell a great horror story. The core rulebook has been handed over to our line editor who will start into it in early November (we both have a busy development schedule).

A while ago I announced that Faith & Demons: The Rising had been pulled for redevelopment, and I’ve been thinking more about what I want to do. The original setting contained too much fantasy and not enough historical. This actually makes sense because the setting was originally developed as a dark fantasy setting and then morphed into a historical fantasy horror setting, and this was before I fully developed the Shadowed Earth alternate history. For the 2nd edition, I’m stepping back and doing a ton of new research on the cultures of that period, centered on the Byzantine Empire (specifically Constantinople). From this, I’m going to take that research to develop a handful of new Ultimate Dark Ages Guides covering Vikings (already in development), Byzantine Empire, Merovingians (i.e. Germanic people), Slavs, Turks, and possibly Papal States. I will then take the pertinent information from that research and incorporate it into the Faith & Demons: The Rising setting guide. The only fantasy that will be added will be the elements already described in the Shadowed Earth setting guide. This means the release of 2nd edition will be out probably 2 years, if not 3 years.

Ancient World

Ancient Worlds is patiently waiting for other products right now, but I had a couple brainstorms today. I’m thinking of releasing a couple sourcebooks that introduce different ways of playing the game. They are tentatively titled Apocalypse and Crusades.

Little Heroes

Little Heroes: The Lost Faery is back in my hands after editing. It too will be set aside until next month and will be one of two (maybe three) releases in November (the other being Entropic Heroes: Fantasy). Additionally, my 7-year old daughter and I have 3 other Scenarios now, which will be made available when the Quick-Start Rules are available. However, by that time we’ll probably be up to 5.

Mythos

No new developments for Mythos. Line developer and IP-owner Gilbert Gallo is currently busy working on other projects that are actually Mythos related.

Broken Ruler Games

Broken Ruler Games has just released the first “treatment” for ScreenPlay called Dial M for Monster. This is self-contained rulebook utilizes the ScreenPlay mechanics but takes place within the confines of cinematic horror such as what you would find at a 1950s drive-in movie theater. It’s kind of that lighthearted side of horror, just in time for Halloween. The PDF is available now and POD should be available soon. Roleplayers Chronicle

New additions to the database have been put on hold while I clean up some recently changed links. I have to scrub the entire database again, but this one won’t take nearly as long.
