General Update

The biggest general update I have right now is the launch of the Game Publishers’ Guild website and DriveThruRPG account. The GPG website is a place to learn about all members involved in the Guild while our DriveThruRPG account will contain all cross-publisher bundles. Check it out!

Mercenary Breed

Editing continues on the Hastilion Expanse campaign book for Mercenary Breed – Savage Worlds. I don’t have any further updates, but this is a pretty big book to edit and will take awhile.

Colonial Gothic: Portsmouth 1745

Editing is in process for Portsmouth 1745. As with Hastilion Expanse, this is a big book and will take quite awhile to edit.

Ultimate Guides

The Ultimate Three Kingdoms Guide is now available for the Entropic Gaming System. This is the second Ultimate Guides book to be converted to EGS with Ultimate Mongol Empire Guide being next and then Ultimate Knights Templar Guide. However, Mythos: Quick Start Guide is slated next for conversion, and then the next Ultimate Guides book will be converted. I have tentatively set in my sights an Ultimate Psionics Guide for Legend. This is a book I’ve been wanting to write as Legend doesn’t have any support for Psionics, which could be an awesome addition for both standard fantasy and Mercenary Breed sci-fi.

Entropic Gaming System

Lots of great activity going on with the Entropic Gaming System. Entropic Guides: Warfare continues to be written and playtested. The available download at RPGNow includes a taste of the playtest packet with chapters 1-3 which including dogfights and mass combat. However, development has not stopped there as mechanized warfare (for fighting machines) has been added and naval combat is currently in development. Updated playtest packets are being generated, but the free download will not gain access to it. In order to get access to the updated playtest packets, you have to provide valuable feedback.

I have launched into development of Entropic Heroes: Fantasy. This book will be much like Entropic Heroes: Science Fiction in its design, although I expect development to take several months. Everything is being developed from the ground up, making it 100% new content. It will probably be as long  as the Sci-Fi book, but I’m not sure yet. I’m currently writing the Backgrounds section, provided a collection of new races for players to choose from. They are: Dragonkin, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Goblin, Half-Giant, Half-Orc, Halfling, Human, Lizardfolk, Satyr, and Tiefling. That provides a good mixture of races and provides a good reference for GMs to create their own.

I have a good list of new EGS books coming in the next two years or so. They include a Compendium of Beasts (an epic fantasy bestiary), Entropic Heroes: Horror, Book of Horrific Beings (a horror bestiary), and of course the EGS setting books such as Ancient World, Faith & Demons: The Rising, Beyond the Firelight, and The Fallen.

Third Party Publishers

I was contacted by Pagemesh.com, an alliance of writers, editors, and illustrators, who are interested in using the Entropic Gaming System as the RPG mechanics for their various systems. I very excited to see how this develops, and you can learn more about them at http://pagemesh.com.

Shadowed Earth

Judgment Day 2nd Edition for Savage Worlds is now available! This is the same content as the EGS version with all the appropriate Savage Worlds mechanics including new Hindrances, Edges, and Arcane Backgrounds. This is a significant expansion of the original editions, and a 50% off upgrade coupon was sent out via RPGNow for those looking to upgrade to the new edition.

I’ve kicked off calling-in submissions for the next Shadowed Earth fiction anthology. This next anthology has an urban theme with all pieces taking place in an urban environment (any time period). Not sure how long this will take, but I’m pretty excited to see the results.

Work has not yet begun on any additional Shadowed Earth RPGs as I’m currently working on Ancient World.

Ancient World

Ancient World (EGS) and Bestiarum Vocabulum (EGS) development is progressing very nicely. I should have the core setting guide finished writing in 4 weeks at the most with the Bestiarum Vocabulum following up a few weeks later (there’s a lot of creature entries in there).

I’m really excited at how this version is developing. I like having the setting shrouded in secrecy compared to how open it was before. To help support that, some of the features of the setting have changed slightly, but nothing significant. I’ve definitely given reason to the dark fantasy aspects of the setting compared to before, but players should know those things. These are the secrets they’re supposed to uncover during the course of a campaign!

Mythos

The full collection of core rulebooks for Mythos (EGS) are now available! This includes a complete full color core setting guide (only available at RPGNow / DriveThruRPG) with a full-color, casebound printed edition. It’s expensive, but it’s beautiful! You can also pick-up the Hero’s Handbook and Epic Gamemastering which are the player’s book and GM’s book respectively. Each are available in PDFs and black-and-white paperback printed editions. Those are much less expensive and there’s even a printed bundle to save some more money.

Following on the heals of the core setting books will be Mythos: Quick Start Guide for EGS. This will not only be a conversion available for PWYW, it will also be a printed book available for PWYW (with a minimum to cover printing cost) for those who want the printed version. This will be a great way to learn about Mythos to understand the setting and the capabilities of the characters.

Mythos line developer Gilbert Gallo is busy writing the next sourcebook called Heaven Queen. This book focuses on Hera entering the Heavenly Contest and includes a look at Crete. Gilbert asked if he should include minotaur as a playable race, and of course I said “Yes”. This will come available for Savage Worlds and then eventually be available for EGS once the other products in this line have been converted.

Broken Ruler Games is busy with development. Stay tuned to this area for further announcements when they come available.

Roleplayers Chronicle

Work has continued again on the database refresh. I finished up with Kenzer & Co, added Lamentations of the Flame Princess, and am currently working on Misfit Studios.
